A trip to the park provides children with endless opportunities for imagination. Among the swings, slides, and sandboxes, children are free to roam and learn through play. Greenville, SC, offers a plethora of playground options, from massive sports complexes to modern play parks. Depending on the park, visitors can visit local trails, sports centers, splash pads, historic sites, and even the Greenville Zoo. Unity Park 

Don’t leave Greenville, SC, without visiting its newest attraction: Unity Park. This 60 acre park has it all: four modern playgrounds, a splash pad, rolling green hills, picnic tables, and a 10,000 square foot welcome center. Because it is connected to the 23 mile Swamp Rabbit Trail, it is the ideal spot for hiking and biking. Sports enthusiasts can play on its basketball court or bring athletic gear, such as footballs or soccer balls, to play on the open lawn. Dogs are welcome! Everyone is welcome at Unity Park, where the goal is bringing the community together.

Legacy Park 

With its cascading water features and rolling landscapes, Legacy Park is reminiscent of New York City’s Central Park. It’s serene, located in a residential area outside Greenville’s downtown. It features two playgrounds, for toddlers and older children. Additionally, visitors can enjoy the volleyball court, hiking trails, and duck pond. Additionally, check out Chestnut Coffee House for a rich coffee and sweet treat. It’s always a nice day to be outside at Legacy Park.

Cleveland Park 

Greenville’s largest Park, Cleveland Park, is 122 acres of natural beauty along the Reedy River. It also includes the Rock Quarry Garden, the Fernwood Nature Trail, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and the Greenville Zoo (greenvillesc.gov). Basically, Cleveland Park is many parks in one. Visiting families often enjoy the playground areas, fitness trails, tennis court, volleyball court, and softball field. The picnic shelters can be rented out for the day at affordable rates; the park is always clean and in great shape. Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy the great outdoors! 

McPherson Park 

Just because McPherson Park is the “oldest park in the city” does not mean that it is not hip. In fact, it’s one of the coolest places in the city because there are tons of hidden spots to explore in the 12.5 acre park. For example, the Sear Shelter, built in 1942, is a historic cabin that now resides at Mcpherson and can be rented out for parties. Additionally, Mcpherson Park includes a FREE, 18 hole mini golf course that is perfect for families and individuals of all ages. Note, all golfing materials, such as putters and balls, must be brought from home. Visitors can also enjoy the playground, tennis courts, shelters, creeks, and bridges that span this hidden oasis.

Conestee Park 

Does your family love sports? Or nature? Or both? Conestee Park has all that and more. This sports complex includes 5 baseball fields, Lake Conestee Nature Preserve, and a dog park. It also includes a playground, nature trails, shelters, and a community garden. Be sure to check its website for an extensive list of weekly events and activities, such as Kids Night Out and Senior Programs. It’s the perfect place to observe nature or get out and play in it!
