In Greenville, SC, there are endless fitness opportunities: ways to get out and try new things. Greenville’s charming parks, tranquil lakes, and sporty establishments make it an ideal place to get out of one’s comfort zone and explore. Fitness activities are a great way to meet new people or start a hobby with family and friends. From simple nature walks to adrenaline filled ziplining, Greenville has adventure opportunities that keep life interesting. After all, “You will enrich your life immeasurably if you approach it with a sense of wonder and discovery, and always challenge yourself to try new things,”- Nate Berkus. Check out our list of local fitness opportunities below to add spice to life!

Running Club at the Commons Food Hall

1) Trailside Blazers & Trailside Trotters

Looking for walking buddies? Check out the Trailside Trotters at the Commons. They meet every Tuesday at 6:30pm for a chill, scenic walk on the Swamp Rabbit Trail. Want a non-walking option? Check out the Trailside Blazers at the Commons to join their rollerblading or roller skating squad. They meet every Monday at 6pm. All skating levels are welcome! This is a free weekly event focused on building community and promoting fitness.

Recreational Pool @ the Kroc Center

2) Kroc Center

Located at the corner of Westfield and Academy Street in Greenville, the Kroc Center is a gym, pool, and fitness center that “has something for everyone.” Check out their recreational pool, basketball/volleyball gym, outdoor playground, fitness center, and/or group fit classes with a two hour guest pass or membership. Note: reservations must be made online to use the recreational pool. Additionally, the Kroc Center offers various sporty classes, such as zumba, yoga, pilates, and more. The Kroc Center is a great way to meet new people in the Greenville community and meet fitness goals!

Climb @ Blue Ridge's Rock Walls

3) Climb @ Blue Ridge

Reach new heights at Greenville’s indoor climbing center, Climb @ Blue Ridge. They offer affordable rates and packages for the whole family. For example, first timers can visit for $24, and this includes a belay safety check with trained staff and all gear. Another great way to get bang for your buck is to become a member, so that you can enjoy climbing all year round. Meet like-minded individuals during classes like “Grandmaster Sundays,” “Homeschool Climbing,” “Highschool Hangout,” “Beta Babes,” and more. Endure the climb; enjoy the view.

One of 60 obstacles at Flying Rabbit Adventures

4) Flying Rabbit Adventures

Experience the ultimate ropes course at Flying Rabbit Adventures, adjacent to the Swamp Rabbit Trail. Built on five acres, they offer a three story aerial course, with 60 unique obstacles, such as rope walks, swinging platforms, climbing elements, and zip lines. For those wishing to remain closer to the ground, they also offer a looking deck and bicycle pump track. For the traditional Aerial Adventure Course, Level One Access is $40, and Full Access is $60. They also offer a kids course for $30, so that kiddos don’t miss out on the fun. Rise to the challenge; new memories are yours for the taking!

Lake Jocassee Mountain Views

5) Lake Jocassee Watersports

Devils Fork State Park has it all: crystal lakes, smoky mountain ridges, and thundering waterfalls. It is breathtaking. The fitness opportunities here abound. Visitors can hike, swim, fish, boat, and even scuba dive. But one of the absolute BEST activities to do at Lake Jocassee is to kayak/paddle board. Eclectic Sun offers affordable rentals and friendly staff helps load and unload the rentals. Once on a kayak/paddle board, participants are free to explore the islands and inlets of the lake.
