Greenville’s Best Farmers Markets for Fresh Finds

October 6, 2024

Farmers markets are a treat to the senses, with the smells of fresh sourdough bread and dark roasted coffee wafting through the air. Under each white tent lies a kaleidoscope of colors: red tomatoes and crisp yellow peppers. The Upstate of SC has several excellent farmers markets that offer fresh produce, culinary creations, and handmade goods, especially in Greenville.  Whether one is looking for a Saturday morning outing, or a Tuesday/Thursday evening pick-me-up, farmers markets present ideal opportunities to engage with the community and browse for unique items. Individuals can jam out to live music, strolling the streets with ease and contentment.

  1. TD Saturday Market
  • Location: Main Street in Greenville, SC
  • Time: Saturdays, 8am-12pm (May-October)
  • Highlights: Greenville’s TD Market features 75 local vendors, offering products like fresh veggies, fragrant herbs, fresh cut flowers, decadent desserts, and quality crafts. It is common for the TD Market to also have live music, chef demonstrations, and childrens’ activities. Be sure to check out Southern Sweet Potato Pies and Earth Blooms Inc for their sweet treats/flowers!
  1. Greenville State Farmers Market
  • Location: 1354 Rutherford Road, Greenville, SC
  • Time: Monday- Saturday, 8am-6pm (Open year round)
  • Highlights: The Greenville State Farmers Market is offered inside and year round, making it the most accessible farmers market in the area. The farmer stalls offer a wide variety of goods, such as fresh produce, homemade jams, soup mixes, eggs, meat, and more. A cafe, ATM, restrooms, WIFI, and handicap accessible ramps are also available. It is a smaller venue than the TD Market market, but it has a friendly atmosphere and premium goods. Check out their fall crop today for bright orange pumpkins and twisted, autumn guards.
  1. Harvest Market
  • Location: Trailblazer Park in Travelers Rest, SC
  • Time: Thursdays, 5:30pm-8:00pm (October)
  • Highlights: The TR Farmers Market season has come to an end, and that means one thing: it’s the Harvest Market’s time to shine. This October, shop from 35+ local vendors for Farm-to-Table items and handmade crafts. Each week will host a live band for a free concert. For example, next Thursday will host the “Blake Elege Band” and the week after that is “Wilder Things Than Us.” Pack a lawn chair and picnic lunch, or enjoy dinner from one of the many food trucks on site. Kick back and enjoy the sunset in this quaint mountain town during the Harvest Market season.

4. Trick or Treat Market

  • Location: Greer City Park in Greer, SC
  • Time: October 15 & November 19th, 4:30pm-7:30pm
  • Highlights: While the Greer Farmers Market season has ended, they still have one trick left up their sleeve: Trick or Treat! This special fall themed market will host “45 farmers, makers, and bakers,” offering unique items like homemade soap, local honey, crafts, and much, much more. Entertainment includes children’s activities, a showcase, and live music. Be sure to visit Crazy Good Kettle Corn for a sweet, sugary treat.
