There’s no denying that the blues is a poignant and powerful form of expression. Whether you’re a novice or a virtuoso, you’re invited to Fountain Inn’s 18th Annual Mac Arnold Cornbread and Collard Greens Blues Festival. This free community event will celebrate local blues bands, like Mac Arnold and the Plate Full of Blues. While listening, sample fresh Southern culinary delicacies like cornbread, collard greens, and pies. Then, check out the Jeep Jam as local Jeep owners line Main Street with their prized vehicles. Finally, shop for homemade goods and products at the Spring Market. Truly, it’s hard to stay blue when you’re listening to the blues.
This April, check out Greenville Theatre’s production of Driving Miss Daisy. Written by award-winning playwright Alfred Urhy, this play explores unlikely friendships that span decades. Set in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1948, racial tensions were high, but that didn't stop Daisy Werthan and Hoke Colburn from becoming friends. Adapted into the Oscar winning film, starring Morgan Freeman and Jessica Tandy, this story has touched the hearts of many audience members and continues to do to this day.
At Social Latitude’s Master’s Golf Tournament, it’s a “hole in one” for fun. This Friday, from 2-6pm, participate in a golf tournament simulator in order to raise money for Kind of the Upstate, a nonprofit organization that helps students with disabilities. There are 2 contests: a Par 3 and Long Drive. Not interested in golfing? Check out Social Latitude’s social lounge, ax throwing deck, and/or karaoke bar. It’s a great place to unwind after a long week. Enjoy!
It’s easy to get stuck in a culinary rut, cooking the same meals night after night. No more! Check out Greer’s monthly Food Truck Rollout for mouthwatering menu inspirations and delights. This weekend, stop by Donut NV, Everything Egg Roll, G-Rod's Latin Fusion, Jamaican Fireside Food, Lobster Dogs, Mac Attack, or Sub Street from 5pm to 8pm. Be sure to grab your blankets or folding chairs to enjoy the ambiance and live music. This Friday’s entertainment is courtesy of Angela Easterling and the Beguilers. Bring your family and friends, relax by the fountain, and take in the natural beauty of Greer’s downtown park. It doesn’t get better than this.
