Join the 22,000 participants who will be celebrating the anniversary of India’s Independence Day, appreciating India’s vibrant culture and history. This annual extravaganza features a lively parade, calming meditation areas, stirring performances, and more. Experience the sounds and smells of India, especially through on site food and beverages for purchase. This event will take place from 9am-10pm at Graham Plaza at the Peace Center.

If you haven't yet, you need to check out McAlister Square, a renovated shopping mall turned public meeting space in Greenville. This weekend is the perfect occasion to visit, as they are hosting another cultural celebration: the Japanese Bon Dance Cultural Festival. From 12pm-4pm, they will be hosting a series of dances, demonstrations, and ceremonies for all to enjoy. The dances will be colorful and energetic, especially the Bon Odori, which is performed in kimonos, yukatas, and happi coats. The festival is free to enter, and tickets can be purchased for activities, food, games, and raffles. All proceeds will benefit JAASC’s Japan Affairs. Come be a part of an international dance party!
Step into a melody during Philip Howe’s Trio concert on Thursday at 7:30pm. Philip Howe is a renowned pianist, saxophonist, and trumpeter from the Charlotte area, and he will be accompanied by bassist Mike Holstein and drummer Kevin Korschgen. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online. Be carried along by the sound of Jazz at the Signal Music Museum; you won’t be disappointed.
Don’t wait for October to get your pumpkin fix; the Smashing Pumpkins band will be in town Tuesday in Simpsonville! This alternative rock band, which started in 1988, is known for its top hits like “1979,”“Bullet with Butterfly Wings,” and “Mayonnaise.” Their punk rock style creates an exhilarating show. Simpsonville’s CCNB Amphitheatre is an outside venue, meaning that tickets start at $35. Rock on!
