Check out The Local 5

Whether you’re visiting for the first time or have spent years in the Greenville area, The Local 5 Newsletter is your one stop destination to find out what you don’t want to miss this weekend in the Upstate.

Every Thursday, we will highlight our ‘top 5 musts’ that will include everything from restaurants, activities, parks, concerts and festivals that are all right here in beautiful Greenville, SC.

One

Get your head in the game! VisitGreenvilleSC is hosting a free Downtown Dribble event for children ages 5-14 on March 8th. To recognize the 2025 SEC Women's Basketball Tournament, children are invited to march and dribble from Noma Square to the Bon Secours Arena. Individuals will receive a free basketball, t-shirt, and ticket to Saturday’s semi-final game! Registration is at 1pm, and the dribble will start at 2:30pm. It will end with Crush Soda SEC FanFare, so be sure to stick around for the fun. At Downtown Dribble, children can feel like a part of the team.

Two

Showcase your classic car or appreciate them up close at the Ultimate Car Show hosted by the Mauldin Police Department this Saturday. From 8am-3pm, enjoy free music, car seat checks, and a rockin’ classic car show. Awards will be given for categories in “Best in Show,” “Best Classic Car,” “Best Muscle Car,” “Best Custom Car,” “People’s Choice,” and “Best Patrol Car.” Sample delicacies from local vendors and enjoy the sunshine! All proceeds will benefit children and adults with intellectual disabilities. There is a $25 fee to register a classic car, and a $10 fee to register all other vehicles.

Three

Megan Trainer said it best: “I feel better when I’m dancing.” Bust a move on the dance floor at The Foundry at Judson Mill during a Dancers Night Out. Every Saturday from 7pm-1am, bop along to the beat and join the line dancing crowd for only $5. Song requests will be taken all night to ensure that your favorite song gets a shout out. Between songs, enjoy drinks and craft beer. Because the Foundry is located in a renovated textile mill, it truly is a unique experience that is worth checking out.

Four

If you’re in the mood for an unconventional comedy March 11th-16th, then you’re in luck because Shucked will be showing at the Peace Center. Catey Sullivan stated in the Chicago Sun-Times that, “Shucked warms the heart like a slug of corn whiskey. Some of the best comedy you’ll see on a musical theater stage this season.” This show is recommended for individuals 10+ because it has adult themes and language. You haven’t seen corny, until you’ve seen Shucked!

Greenville’s Hoppin’ bar is known for its “Beer, Cocktails, and Good Vibes.” Along with its self service tap wall, locals enjoy Hoppin’s entertaining weekly events. On Tuesdays, enjoy music bingo in which participants can compete for Hoppin’ gift cards. Then on Wednesdays, check out their trivia night, where the top 3 teams can win prizes. Both events kick off at 8pm, plenty of time to play the night away.
