Every Thursday, we will highlight our ‘top 5 musts’ that will include everything from restaurants, activities, parks, concerts and festivals that are all right here in beautiful Greenville, SC.

One

This weekend’s Greek Festival will be a fragrant feast, with the smell of Greek meatballs, orzo, stuffed grape leaves, lamb burgers, souvlaki, and baklava wafting through the air. Saint George’s 37th Greek festival will be an authentic cultural celebration, filled with traditional Greek dances. In addition to single menu options, choose from three combination plates: Athenian Chicken, Pastichio, or Moussaka, which can be ordered via drive-through or dine in. This a free community event; menu options and drinks are available for purchase. Cheers… or stin ygeiá sas!

Two

Dinosaurs have the power to astound both 5 year olds and 50 year olds. It’s like Steve Miller once said, “Dinosaurs may be extinct from the face of the planet, but they are alive and well in our imaginations.” Check out life size dinosaur replicas this weekend at Jurassic Quest. Meet dinos like the Spinosaurous and Tyrosauros Rex at Greenville’s Convention Center, Friday through Sunday. Excavate fossils, pet baby dinos, and pose for adventurous, dino themed photos. General admission is $22; Kids Ultimate admission is $36. Also, be advised that parking is $5. Jurassic Quest brings dinosaurs back to life, if only for a weekend.

Three

Escape dry land for an evening and discover why life is better “under the sea” with the Mauldin Theatre Company’s production of Disney’s The Little Mermaid. This is the last weekend to experience the star-crossed love between mermaid Ariel and Prince Eric, blooming despite the magical hijinks of a wicked sea witch. Mauldin’s production is a talented ensemble, capable of hilarious line deliveries and powerful vocals. Tickets are $20 for general admission, but $15 for seniors, military veterans, and students. Join Flounder, Sebastian, and the whole ocean gang for a show that will have you dancing along in your seat!

Four

Calling all party animals, you’re invited to wander the Greenville Zoo in style this Friday at Brew at the Zoo. Explore the park after hours, and stop to sip & savor the many beer and snack options that will be available throughout the park. There will be more than 18 participating breweries, including Savage Craft Ale Works and Sugar Creek Brewing Company. Food vendors include Maple Street Bicuit Company, Viva Chicken, Willy Taco, Texas Roadhouse, and more. Tickets are $70 for early admission and $60 for regular admission; a discount is available for designated drivers. Individuals must be 21+ to attend. Enjoy a different kind of nightlife, observing lounging lions and mischievous monkeys, without the hassle of the crowds.

The Blues are coming to town! This Saturday, you're invited to a free concert at Greer City Park, featuring Mac Arnold & Plate Full of Blues. One Saturday a month during the summer, Greer hosts a free concert for their Tunes in the Park series. Greer's amphitheater is usually packed with folding chairs and picnic blankets; it is a great way to get to know the community. Food and beverages will be available for purchase via food trucks and vendors. Leashed pets are welcome.
