Shakespeare’s plays were not intended to be read via script; they were meant to be experienced live so that audiences could fully appreciate the humor, wit, and relatability of his characters. Experience Shakespeare this summer during the Upstate Shakespeare Festival, featuring LOVES LABOUR’S LOST and Henry lV. Presented outdoors at Falls Park on the Reedy River, participants are encouraged to bring a folding chair or picnic blanket for optimal comfort. Shows are offered Thursday through Sunday from now till June 16. This two hour show is completely free, thanks to the Metropolitan Arts Council. This festival will have you quoting Shakespeare: “I like this place and could willingly waste my time in it..”

What comes to mind when you hear the following words? Bagpipes. Haggis. The Loch Ness Monster. Most likely, you’re thinking of Scotland! Celebrate Scottish culture this weekend at Gallebrae: Greenville Scottish Games 2024. The festivities kick off Friday night with a parade on Main St. and Ceilidh music at the Peace Center stage. Keep the party going on Saturday with the Scottish Games, Car Show, All Day Border Collie Invitationals, and more, all held at Furman University. Little ones are invited to explore Wee Scotland, collecting Scottish stamps along the way. Great scott, we’re in for a treat this weekend.

Add a little magic to your weekend with Disney on Ice, featuring Frozen & Encanto. Join sisters, Anna and Elsa, for a colorful journey of self discovery in Act 1, and then, join as Mirabel & her family navigate familial love and forgiveness in Act 2. Be dazzled by world-class ice skaters and colorful costume design at Bons Secours Arena. Add the Character Experience to meet Elsa and Mirabel in person before the show begins. See how, “An act of true love can thaw a broken heart” today!

3…2…1, Lift off! Soar through the Greenville Downtown Airport runway during the Take Flight 5K this Memorial Day weekend. Participants can choose to pre register online for either the 5K ($30) or a 1 mile race ($20). Before the races, join as the Civil Air Patrol presents the colors and remembers America’s fallen heroes. All race proceeds benefit the Greenville Downtown Airport, and will be used to purchase new swings and playground equipment for the local community. Costumes are encouraged! Be sure to visit Runway Cafe after the race for a delicious post race burger!

City Scape Winery invites you to pull up a chair and unwind during their free Spring Food & Wine Festival. Enjoy a glass of wine and wander tents from local vendors, while listening to live music. The kitchen will be open with their Taste of May Menu, and food trucks will be in attendance. Seating is limited, so visitors may want to bring a folding chair or picnic blanket just in case. Leashed pets are welcome! Sip and savor at City Scape Winery this Memorial Day weekend.
