“Laugh as much as possible, always laugh. It’s the sweetest thing one can do for oneself and one’s fellow human beings” -Maya Angelou. Comedy is invaluable because it gives humans an outlet to be free and speak truths in humorous ways. This November 2-11, Coffee Underground is hosting its 10th annual New South Comedy Festival in Greenville, SC. This festival will feature 150 entertainers, including stand-up, improv, sketch, and musical performances. Times and sessions vary; check the link below for more details.

Greenville was originally founded in the 1700s, and thus has a complex history and mix of architectural styles. Explore Greenville's rich history and architecture on a Greenville History Tour. Led by author John Nolan, groups are escorted in a comfortable Ford Transit tour van. The tour highlights include: James and Earle St. Historic Neighborhood, North Main Historic Neighborhood, and East Park Historic District. Nolan is a master storyteller who makes history come alive, giving context to Greenville's humble beginnings.

Three

Overlooking the breathtaking Falls Park, the Grand Bohemian Lodge is Greenville’s newest premier hotel and restaurant. Enter a world of modern architecture, refined cuisine, and seasonal spirits. The restaurant, Between the Trees, welcomes guests to enjoy its Fall pumpkin menu this November, offering pumpkin themed entrees such as creamy pumpkin soup, pumpkin goat cream cheese salad, and more. Guests have the option to lounge on its veranda or stone bar for a unique dining experience that connects one to nature. After dinner, be sure to visit the Grand Bohemian Art Gallery, a modern display of local and international pieces that is sure to inspire.

Four

“A Unicorn, a Dinosaur, and a Shark Walk into a Book.” While this may sound like the beginning of a joke, it’s actually a hysterical childrens’ book, written by Jonathan Feske. This Sunday, all are invited to a personal reading of Feske’s book at M. Judson Booksellers. The entry price is $20 per family; this includes a copy of the book and a cookie for each child. In “A Unicorn, a Dinosaur, and a Shark Walk into a Book,” the characters are self aware that they are in a book, and they want out! Can the narrator convince them to stay?
